Requesting a specific courier

KCI Medical required a National Medical Courier partner capable of both storing valuable stock at multiple locations throughout the UK and making emergency deliveries 24/7 whilst patients were in operating theatres.  The chosen provider needed to demonstrate outstanding competency across every element of the supply chain.
 
Based on our logical footprint and the scope of our medical courier portfolio, which includes Final Mile Pharmaceutical Logistics and Sample Transportation services, CitySprint were able to demonstrate that it was best placed to meet the demanding stock management and emergency delivery requirement of KCI.

Fully compliant with security regulations

CitySprint’s Medical service division has been specifically designed to meet needs of the medical industry ensuring that KCI’s storage and medical movements are fully compliant with the MHRA and CPA safety regulations.
 
In addition to providing a ‘profile driven’ online booking and tracking platform, we provided KCI with access to the services of our healthcare team.  The team which is operational 24/7 was closely involved in developing KCI’s bespoke operational procedures and subsequently responsible for the accreditation of the couriers supporting this account. 

Security and safety of patients first


Our healthcare team is highly experienced and includes personnel who are IATA and DG trained, in conjunction with the account management team and KCI contract managers, and a comprehensive set of bespoke operational procedures were developed to cover all requirements and ensure the security and safety of the patients and the products being transported.

CitySprint’s market-leading online booking and reporting platform and GPS-enabled fleet enabled KCI to track its equipment at every point in the supply chain. 
 
An additional enhancement was the ability to access time stamped audits for each item, providing improved levels of oversight and significantly reducing risk by ensuring that any points of failure could be identified and resolved quickly.

What we accomplished together

Over the period of the contract cost efficiencies were achieved in line with KCI moving all of its healthcare logistics to CitySprint. Saving derived from the optimisation of delivery runs, including the return of used units and exchange delivery/pickups based on the skilled use of route scheduling software, and incorporating CitySprint’s own overnight network.

The commitment from the account management team to mitigate areas of potential service failure has resulted in significant service improvements. In addition, KCI’s decision to move the entire logistics requirement to CitySprint produced greater cost efficiency through the optimisation of courier usage.
